2. Services & Overhead Lines
- Identify and mark all underground services before digging — use a locator if unsure.
- Keep clear of overhead power lines and treat all lines as live.
- If you strike a service, stop work immediately and call the utility provider.
3. Safe Operation
- Keep bystanders, children and pets well clear of the work area.
- Never carry passengers or lift people with the bucket.
- Travel up and down slopes (not across) with the bucket low; stay clear of trench edges to prevent tip-over.
- Operate within the machine's rated capacity — don't overload the bucket.
4. Refuelling, Faults & Emergencies
- Switch off and let the engine cool before refuelling — diesel only, away from ignition sources.
- Stop immediately if any fault, leak, alarm or abnormal noise occurs, and call Floris Excavator Hire.
